Medical Network, Inc., (MedNet), is a physician-owned and directed, Maine-based organization dedicated to building a sustainable model of health care delivery that offers quality and economy statewide.

As a Maine company, we offer local customer service and a network of 4,500 providers with broad geo-access.

What Does a Provider Network Do?

• Provider networks, such as MedNet, pre-contract doctors, nurse practitioners, and other facilities or medical providers as in-network for your employees.
• In business terms, your medical network takes care of:
  • Negotiating how much each doctor will get paid for a visit
  • Vetting the doctor’s credentials for quality
  • Keeping all of the legal paper work up to date
  • Maintaining a database for employees so that they know which doctors they can use
  • Making sure there are in-network providers all across Maine
  • Including specific specialists that an employer would like in the network

MedNet unites providers, patients, insurance companies and employers in an alliance that balances the diverse needs of all participants in an intelligent and mutually supportive manner. Our approach is cooperative and based on shared incentives that reduce costs while ensuring quality.

At MedNet, we believe that containing health care costs is critical at every level. Our approach is designed so that all parties share in the effort. As participants in our Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) – working within a traditional fee-for-service environment – MedNet health care professionals agree to contractual reimbursement levels as payment in full. Plan members in turn have an economic incentive to use PPO physicians. Claims and practices are regularly reviewed for quality and cost-effectiveness. The result is lower costs across the board.

We recruit and credential only those physicians who meet our standards of quality and efficiency.
